Dear Phone – The Benefits of Power Cords

One of the benefits of working at an office space or a shared working space is power. Having the power to charge as many devices as you want and not worrying about your devices while you are working towards your deadlines.

To charge your devices at a shared workspace, pick your location at the space strategically. Make sure there are two power outlets and attach, you phone, to one of the outlets and your laptop to the other. Shared workspaces have places where you can sit and relax but these spaces might not have enough power outlets available. Pick a free desk or reserve a desk area. On some days, the power supply and you phone will not be compatible. On these days, you or one of the other phones will need to take a rest. On these days, the lightness of my bag outweighs a full battery.

To charge more than one device today is impossible even if I had more than one power cord. The power supply where we are sitting is hipster black and needing some additional help. On a day like this, I wish you had your own internal power cord so you could charge whene you wanted. On some days we have a power cord for the following:

  • Laptop
  • Tablet
  • Keyboard for tablet
  • Pocket power bank – portable phone charger for iphone / android
  • electronic pen to be used with tablet
  • phone with one type of charger
  • phone with a different charger
  • maybe smart watch if using samsung, iwatch or advanced sports watch
  • headphones if wireless

Remember phone to tell me to charge. We set up a routine for the shared office space but on days likee today, those routines are not working.

If you [phone] are not charged before arriving at the workspace, go find a plug while I’m working.

TABLETS

If you are a tablet that pretends to be a phone, rememer to keep yourself plugged into the main power source. It takes up to twelve hours to charge you up on a slow charge. If you are used away from the office, recharge while I’m reading or writing on paper. We don’t want to be left without a way to work on our projects.

BATTERY

If you are using a small portable battery pack as an afternoon recharge, check to see if it is charged up before leaving the office. A small charger will recharge one phone but does nothing for you tablet. You need to be plugged into the main energy source for energy and there are no lightweight portable options for you – phone will not share.

A drained tablet is annoying. If you are starting your day at work and you are worried, let phone know how much energy you need to get through the day. We may get dragged away from work by all the other small tasks like software updates and what else is wrong with my tablet and phone and life.

You two may suggests not to over charge with a supercharge but I like having you guys working all the time – It’s better for us then having one of you accidently draining flat on the way home. If you both can’t make it home, I will have to zap you to sleep.

HEADPHONES

Headphones, you are essential when I’m in London so make sure you have enough charge and don’t mind being around phone and tablet. The three of you have to work together for me to get through the workday.

PENS

Pen of my tablet. You are important and hide behind the tablet. I worry about losing you but for some reason, you are magnetici and stick to tablet as much as you can.
